OK So back from Florida on 16th May and I went into hospital on 24th for my hysterectomy. I stayed in for 2 days and since being home have been determined not to just sit around in my nightdress so have been doing little bits every day. Last night hubby took me over to see our 2 yr old Grandson for some much needed Nanna cuddles and out for a lovely meal at one of our favourite olde worlde pubs The Bell in Outwood. It was wonderful but the car journey was a bit uncomfortable so today I have decided to stay put and make ice cream in my new Heston ice cream maker and meringues with the left over egg whites :) add a few strawberries and mango and we will have a gorgeous dessert tonight.
I am determined to make extra effort to do more things I haven't tried before and keep busy doing the things I love more than ever now.
We are back again!! This place certainly feels like home and I am lapping up the sunshine to get me through the next few months :) We have done lots of shopping and I've eaten lots of waffles!! The kids have been to Universal Studios and the Harry Potter park which was amazing and today did Wet n Wild as it's closing this year. They have had an amazing few days so we are having a pool day tomorrow!
Just before we left to come to Florida I picked up my new car, my beloved Mini Cooper - called Eeyore :) I only got to drive him for a couple of days but am looking forward to getting back and driving him again before my op!
I went for my pre-op assessment today and got the date of 23rd May for my hysterectomy. Not having the best time at the moment I'm missing my Mum and Dad so much and am very low. We are off to Florida in 9 days time and I'm not at all in the holiday mood. I am trying so much as I want the girls and Ryan to have a wonderful time. I've got a whole new wardrobe and all the things I want but I'm just not feeling it :(
I have tried the dryer sheet method (can't get fragrance free sheets here in the UK and it leaves a residue on the card) wax paper all of them and don't die cut very often as I hate the poking out of all the little pieces! This trick by Swathi using plastic carrier bags works an absolute treat :)
All my dies are coming out of hiding now and I'm buying new ones, especially Sue Wilson and Heartfelt Creations which I have just discovered :)
I saw my Consultant this afternoon and she made me feel slightly better about everything. She said to go on holiday and she will get me in to do the hysterectomy at the end of May for me. They will remove the uterus, cervix and omentum and have a good look around - her words! Then depending on the histology of all of that will determine what happens next. So I have to focus on Florida in 4 weeks, enjoy it and get plenty of rest and sunshine ready for my op when I return.
So I have lots of projects lined up to keep me busy over the next few weeks. I got the Brother CM700 Scan n Cut and have to play with that :)
So the end of 2015 and the start of 2016 have been a rollercoaster to say the least.
On 28th December I lost my beautiful, creative Mum suddenly and knew my life would never be the same again. She loved to craft so I owed it to her to re-ignite my creative spark. Little did I know what was to come.
On 20th January I had a routine MRI on my back after slipping by the pool in Florida last year and falling badly on my back. This found a large mass in my pelvis, so I was fast tracked to gynae oncology and on 4th Feb had my first appointment and was booked for a bi-lateral-salpingo-oopherectomy which I had on 23rd Feb. Fast forward some weeks, hearing nothing I started to chase the histology report. My GP was a little reluctant to read it to me so last Thursday 24th March I finally found out I have ovarian cancer. Initially I thought ok I can deal with this now I know, but these last few days have been very difficult. I am meeting my gynaecologist today to discuss the results further and will be referred to St Lukes Cancer Centre at the Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford for a hysterectomy and what else I have yet to find out.
Today whilst checking Pinterest I came across an old friend from the crafting world Sharon Nettleship and this beautiful door hanging which really struck a chord with me so I contacted her and she directed me to the Unity Stamp Company and their beautiful range of stamps.
I am going to buy some and make myself a canvas to inspire me to keep strong through the coming months whatever they may bring. Thanks Shary :)
